Great Christmas resolutions
We have decided to make our own version of “what you cannot stop doing in this life: have a child, plant a tree and write a book”, concentrating these tasks on the Christmas period. And yes, adapting them a little …
1. Save lives
Our mission is to save lives, rather than create them (that is beyond our capabilities as a J organization), and we achieve this by far every time someone decides to donate blood, since with their gesture they contribute to saving 3 lives. So day by day, with each donation we achieve our purpose.
2. Plant a tree
Not one, if not twelve (it seemed to us the most Christmas figure: the end of the twelve months, twelve grapes, we have 12 + 1 buses _we will never say 13_ …).
Since our mission is to contribute to saving lives, we wanted to celebrate Christmas by also doing it in a symbolic way, taking a fir tree to twelve points in the Community of Madrid, whose municipalities or collaborating organizations would be in charge after the campaign of replanting them in their locality.
These trees will last over time and helped us to awaken the Christmas spirit and solidarity of the donors, since we encouraged them to place a ball in them in which we asked them to write their wish for the new year. In most of the campaigns in which we carry out this action, we exceed the planned donations, so the initiative has turned out to be a great success.
We carry out this action in the towns of San Agustín de Guadalix, Algete, Brunete, Alcalá de Henares, Torrejón de Ardoz, Paracuellos del Jarama, Alpedrete, Soto del Real, the Cotos de Monterrey urbanization, as well as the Iglesia de la Vid , the Fuenllana School in Alcorcón and the Eben Ezer Churches. From here, thanks to the municipalities and organizations that collaborated with us to prolong the life of these fir trees.
3. Write a book (or at least a post on this blog)
At this point we are much less ambitious, and we settle for talking about our activity and our actions on this blog. It is not a book, but something begins …
We hope you liked this initiative. If you could not write your wish for 2020 on a ball, do it now by leaving us a comment 🙂
